The Strengthening Local Associations committee is also responsible for recruiting new and emerging leaders within the Association to serve in leadership roles. In addition, the committee recognizes teachers and associates for their hard work and dedication to public education. The first event for this year is a shopping trip to Mall of America on Novmember 1st and 2nd. American Education Week, November 11-17, is the first of these events. As spring approaches, we are planning to celebrate Read Across America. On National Teacher Day each May our committee provides gifts to educators and celebrates the day with the Linn County Educator of the Year Awards Dinner. Faculty representatives will also be honored as our committee hosts an appreciation night in May to thank them for their help throughout the year.
