LICENSURE RENEWAL
Be sure to check your license and note when it expires. As you know, the law changed several years ago. Your license now expires in the month of your birthday.
Standard License Renewal: You need 6 credits taken after the license issue date, but before the expiration date-EVERY 5 YEARS. You will also need
to update your Mandatory Reporter Training and provide proof of same.
3. Master Educator License Renewal: You need 4 credits taken after the license issue date, but before the expiration date-EVERY 5 YEARS. You will also need
to update your Mandatory Reporter Training and provide proof of same.
4. You may renew your license one year before it actually expires.
5. A late fee of $25 a month will be assessed for every month beyond expiration.
6. HOWEVER, the DISTRICT could decide to terminate your contract immediately if you are not in compliance.
7. You will need your folder number also. This is on your license, but you can also get it from the website www.iowa.gov./boee/
8. Go to the box on the far left in the second row that says SEARCH for INFORMATION on a Teachers’ License, etc., click and go to the link and follow the directions to access your folder number.
